Yahtzee Finally Takes on Grand Theft Auto

You knew it was coming, and here it is. Ben 'Yahtzee' Crenshaw finally takes on Grand Theft Auto with his usual machine gun sarcasm, in a manner that's as wincefully painful as it is fackeen oresum. It's the first GTA IV review we've seen that ties in GTA's classic hit game Lemmings. While it's a general positive review, Yahtzee does a delightful evisceration of some of the most annoying aspects of the new GTA monster.

It's a roller coaster thrill ride, a roller coaster that stops dead every once and awhile like it's run by British Rail.

Since then the series has taken a right turn at the corner of Gritty and Realism, which I'm not convinced is the best direction for it... the graphics look like I'm viewing them through a used coffee filter: what isn't brown is gray and what isn't gray is too dark to make out.

Since the first thing we did with GTA IV was turn the brightness way up so that we could actually see half of the indistinct blobs, this really hits home for us.

Ben Crenshaw is one of the most entertaining videogame reviewers working today, by the way, and you should check out this video review as well as his other work by clicking here.

About GTA Confidential

GTA Confidential is a community site started by a couple of ex-industry gearheads in which we study, admire, play and dissect Grand Theft Auto.

We've canned the old site for this fresh start: we'll be collecting maps, tips, walkthroughs and other interesting GTA IV related stuff here, with something new every day or so. If you're looking for our older writings on San Andreas or older games, you're out of luck, sorry.
